Required Reading for EVOC 502/503
The two books described immediately below are both required reading for EVOC 502/503 and should be acquired and read as soon as possible. Additional information about each book can be found at amazon.com by just clicking on the title of the book.
Some scholars find it helpful to underline various passages and write notes in the margins. This practice is highly encouraged, but only with books that are owned by the scholar doing the underlining!

Peaceful Warrior by Dan Millman
REQUIRED READING for the EVOC 502 class. This book poses important philosophical questions about teaching and learning. It is written as a story of personal discovery, but has applications for everyone involved with education and with living.

Choice Theory - by William Glasser
REQUIRED READING for the EVOC 503 class. Glasser postulates that desire for external control is the main problem in the four major personal relationships: husband-wife, parent-child, teacher-student, and manager-worker. Choice theory helps its users improve those relationships.

A reasonable goal for anyone involved with education would be to read at least one good book every month. Paperback books are cheap and can be easily carried in pocket or purse and read any place, any time. Truly educated people are distinguished much more by what they have read, and are able to intelligently discuss, than by academic degrees!
