Who It's For
EVOC 502 and EVOC 503 (which should be taken together) meet CCTC course requirements for Level 2 of the Designated Subjects Teaching Credential.
They are also required courses for the Bachelor of Vocational Education (BVE) Degree and may be applied to an MA degree if not completed as an undergraduate. It is recommended (but not required) that the Level 1 (EVOC 501, EVOC 518 and EVOC 519) courses be completed through CSU, San Bernardino, before taking EVOC 502 and 503.
Anyone who has not completed EVOC 501 through CSU San Bernardino, and who needs EVOC 502 and 503 to meet Level 2 Designated Subjects credential requirements should follow this link to additional information.
What It's About
EVOC 502 and EVOC 503 are courses in which all students (referred to as scholars) develop and/or improve their ability to:
Demonstrate appropriate use of professional vocabulary.
Develop a one page narrative of professional experience.
Develop an annotated list of good education related web sites.
Develop a specific personal professional development plan.
Develop and maintain a daily journal of professional insights.
Develop appropriate Assertive Discipline Class Rules.
Develop a vocational Student Organization Proposal.
Develop a basic vocational Course Budget Proposal.
Develop a "to scale" Facilities and Equipment Floor Plan.
Develop a plan for a vocational Public Relations Event.
Develop a plan to organize a Vocational Advisory Committee.
Prepare and present a high quality In-Service Presentation.
Describe factors that influence instructional effectiveness.
Describe educational support concepts and resources.
Develop a written set of specific Environmental Safety Rules.
Develop a professional, well written, Letter of Recommendation.
Develop a written Precourse Student Survey Instrument.
Develop a written Postcourse Student Survey Instrument.
Develop an Education Plan for a "special needs" student.
Develop a "cooperative education" Work Experience Contract.
Develop a written Synopsis of a Local School Board Meeting.
Develop a basic List of Specific Institutional Resources.
Discuss educational support resources available to instructors.
Discuss state and federal vocational education legislation.
Discuss legal responsibilities identified in a faculty handbook.

There are two options to choose from. The CyberClass Option is designed for both distance learners (no need to attend any class sessions) and traditional students (who may elect to attend optional class sessions).

Whichever option you decide on, in order to get credit you must officially register for the courses during either the Summer Quarter or the Winter Quarter at CSU, San Bernardino. Anyone considering any of the options should subscribe to the 502/503 E-TEXT (see below) and review the information about all three options posted in that E-TEXT.

Subscribe to the E-TEXT (EVOC 502/3 Online Course Materials) referenced below right now or at any time before the course starts. It's a good idea to start on the reading and take a look at the E-TEXT assignments as soon as possible, as many of them can be completed before the class actually starts.

Where & When
No matter which option is selected, anyone wishing to take the EVOC 502 and 503 courses must apply for admission to CSU, San Bernardino as a regular student, then register through the TRACS (online or telephone or online registration) system for the listed course sections. Check our Projected Schedule for specific information about when EVOC 502/503 will be offered in the near future.
