VOCATIONAL Teaching Credentials and
CAREER/TECHNICAL Teaching Credentials
The VOCATIONAL Designated Subjects Teaching Credential (which has now been replaced by the CAREER/TECHNICAL (now CAREER/TECHNICAL) Designated Subjects Teaching Credential) is required to teach a specific trade, vocation or occupation in Regional Occupational Programs, Correctional Institutions and other secondary or post-secondary institutions.

To qualify for a Preliminary VOCATIONAL (now CAREER/TECHNICAL) Designated Subjects Teaching Credential, one must have at least five years of work experience related to the subject or subjects they wish to teach. One of the years of work experience must have occurred within the last three years. A degree is not required, but all applicants must have graduated from high school or completed a GED.
